A Lifetime of Building

Friday night was everything.

Sitting high in the stands, being saturated with artists sharing their musical abilities, giving glory and honor to the Lord with each breath… It was everything.

I was reminded how these are the artists that built the foundation on which I stand. It was their music that my brother blared over the car speakers with us singing at the top of our lungs. It was the music that was played throughout the house when chores had to be done. Through every song played God tugged on my heart and I remembered how a rock was formed and set into my foundation. I remembered who molded its shape with me, guided me in instruction, and those who sat around me doing the exact same thing to their own. I remembered the joy that flowed after the struggle. I remembered the laughter, the tears, and the love.

And you want to know something, I couldn’t stop smiling. Joy was magnified even though my heart was weeping on the inside. How beautiful is it that we can have joy in the midst of pain and suffering. God has this way of handling your heart like no one ever could. He is the only one who can handle the burns of this world and wrap them in perfect healing.

The thing is – it is up to us to choose His comfort. To choose to see His truth. It is easy to be the victim, blaming God for every broken thing in your life. But doing so is folly. It holds no truth. Because of the work on the cross we are welcomed to come just as we are before the throne of grace. We are promised that if we lay down our burdens and trust Him – peace and hope and love – and satisfaction will come straight from Him.

The Word tells us that even though pain is in the night, joy comes anew in the morning. We are commissioned to remember the gospel. Remember the works God has done within our lives. It is what helps us keep going. And when we don’t feel like doing any of it – do it anyway!

Love and pursue God anyway!

David Crowder and TobyMac and those with them – their families, those who hold them accountable, those who encourage them and plant seeds. Those around them that have planted and watered their soul – I bless you and honor you. Generations have been affected by your love for Jesus. Your harvest is an ocean and its unyielding.
